What are Knitted Knockers?
Knitted Knockers are soft, handmade breast prostheses for women who have undergone a mastectomy or lumpectomy. Unlike traditional prosthetics, they are lightweight, comfortable, and can be worn in a regular bra. They're also adjustable, washable, and even safe for swimming.
Getting Started
To ensure every knocker meets the required standards, we must follow specific guidelines for yarn, patterns, and supplies.
Yarn:
For this project, you must use yarn from an approved list. While we'll be selling approved yarns at Humble Stitch for 30% off, you're welcome to bring your own as long as it's from the approved list. Check out the list of approved yarns!
Patterns:
You must use the official Knitted Knockers patterns, which are available for both knitting and crochet. We will have copies of these patterns at the shop, but you can also find them for free download online.

Supplies:
You'll need a few essential supplies, including stitch markers, a yarn needle, and scissors, and gauge. However, the patterns do list what is needed- make sure to look over that!
-
For knitters: You'll need a set of 7-8" double point needles, size US 4 (or US 5 for a slightly larger knocker).
-
For crocheters: You'll need a size G (4.5mm) or whatever crochet hook to achieve the correct gauge.
